this trash actually gets passed off as acceptable by some installers...
Absolutely horrendous wiring, inside and out! And inappropriate conduit.
I was speechless when I discovered this eye sore!
There's no pride in this work!
Not removing old brackets to previous models, AND THEN makeshift welding the new bracket to it. THAT'S A BOLT FILLING A WELD-GAP!
Inadequate concrete to support the post to a 16' gate! This is 10-11inches, at best! Make them specify the depth and amount of concrete.
Where to begin? Chain isn't installed in alignment with the machine. Chain bracket is bolted on, instead of welded, and it's only ONE bolt, so it spun. Safety beam is too low to the ground, and shoots under vehicles, rendering it sometimes useless. Flex conduit is exposed, in lengthy runs, and just tossed down in the gate track. Exercise machine weight was zip tied to the gate because the wheels were installed in the wrong place for proper balance of gate weight, so the gate lifts up off the track when it comes to a stop if the weight is removed. This is a nightmare! And it was all done by a so-called professional installer!
Terrible welds, and failure to properly prep and cut to fit the bracket to the situation, and then adding insult to injury with bad "supports" you wouldn't have needed if it was done correctly to begin with.
Bypassing safety equipment!
There is NEVER room for the use of duct tape in this industry! Especially not to "repair" a fractured gate frame!
Welding a bolt to a slide gate track is NOT an appropriate "positive stop" to satisfy safety standards!
It's not okay to use CHEAP "solid core" wire for low voltage communications. If it's not a logic system of 24 volts or higher, solid core wire invites operational errors and gate malfunctions. Most things in this industry communicate on 2.5 or 5 volts DC, and solid wire will cause issues with logic voltages this low. If you're a gate tech: stop being cheap on buying control wire.
Embedding a surface mount keypad inside stone/brick! Now no one is able to open this keypad and ever service, troubleshoot, repair, or replace it without calling a masonry man, and forking out a large expense to chip out the mortar and patch it again. The installer literally mortared in the keyed locking mechanism that is at the bottom of the keypad.
A solar panel that doesn't even face up towards the sky! Just when you think you've seen it all, something else comes along. They aren't "shade panels" - they actually need to see sunlight!
A replacement control cable to a keypad that is pull and exposed outside the conduit. Among other issues. Too many reasons this is an epic failure to go into.
This wiring is a tragedy.
Exposed wiring for an "access control" system, and zip-tied to a fence rail.
Improper mounting bracketry for control cabinets.
Operators are to be mounted level, so that then can freely swing the gate without binding.
